Running Next Gen Events

The Next Gen Disc Golf tournament manager is slightly different than the normal Infinite Tournament system. This video will walk you through how to set up a Next Gen event:

After logging into your account at https://nextgen.infinitediscs.com/LogIn “My Tournaments” will appear in the menu along with six tabs you will use throughout the tournament process.

Settings

The first thing you will want to do is determine your payment settings. There are two choices: Infinite Collects and PayPal

1. Infinite Collects

When Infinite Collects is selected, registration payments are sent directly to Infinite Discs. You do not have to collect any money. Simply click the “order player packs” button on the “Late Registration Date” and the packs your players ordered will be shipped to you along with tournament prize pins and an Edge CTP prize pack.  When Infinite collects is used, you as the TD will receive a “commission” check after the tournament is completed.

If you select Infinite Collects, you must also say how you would like to be paid your commission. Your “paid by” options are either “PayPal” or “Check.”

Advantages of Infinite Collects: Players have the option to have their player packs sent directly to them at registration. This lightens your load the day of the tournament and provides incentive for players to register early. When Infinite Collects is selected, you do not have to spend any money for the player packs.

2. TD Collects (Paypal)

When “PayPal” is selected, you as the TD will receive payments from each registrant and are responsible for paying Infinite Discs for  player packs with sufficient time for them to be shipped to you prior to the tournament.

After the “Late registration date” the payment method is automatically switched to Infinite Collects and additional players that register will have their player packs shipped directly to them.

Commission Payments: If you choose Infinite Collects, or if you allow “late registrations” where we send player packs directly to the players, you will also need to enter your preferred payment method here. This is how we pay you your commission amount after the event is over. If you choose Paypal, you may be charged transaction fees.

Tournament Set Up

The “Tournaments” tab is where you set up the details of your tournament. Here is an explanation of the different fields:

Tournament Type: This field is very important that you select the correct NG Tournament type as each has different player packs and functions differently.

Registration Start Date: This is the date where players will be allowed to begin registering for your event. If you want the event to open immediately, select today.

Registration End Date: This is the date online registration will automatically close. If you want a few days to get things ready before the tournament then set this date before the tournament date. If you can handle the pressure of tournament morning, allow for day of registration and we will mail the player packs directly to the players.

Late Registration Date: This is a very important date because it triggers the date that player packs will be shipped from Infinite Discs to the TD. After the late registration date, all tournaments are switched to Infinite Collects, and late registrants will be emailed their player packs directly. If you do not want any registration after the late registration date, then make the registration end date the day before the late registration date.

Late Registration Fee: This is an optional field where you can add an amount here to discourage players from waiting until the last moment to register. If you don’t want to punish late registration, then leave it blank or enter $0.

Max No. of Players: This is the total number of players you will allow for the event combined from all divisions you have.

No. of Rounds: This is the number of rounds your tournament will have. Most NGXL tournaments will have just 1 round while NG4X Exclusive events will have 2 rounds.

Tournament Location: Here you select the location of the course, or courses where your tournament will be played. It is important that you select the correct location and layout so that the event shows up in the correct location on the map, and so that accurate Infinite Ratings will be given to players.

If the course where your Next Gen tournament will be held can not be found, you can add it here: https://discgolfcourses.com/

If the layout you are using for your tournament is not found here you will want to create a new layout so that the ratings given will be accurate.

Processing Fee: This ads a a fee the registrant pays which will help cover the fees you will pay to PayPal for accepting registration. If you want to be a nice TD you can enter a 0 and pay for the processing fee for your registrants. Most PayPal accounts are charged a fee of .30 + 2.9% for each transaction. The default setting here is 3% so in order to net exactly the registration cost, you may need to increase the fee slightly to cover the 30 cents PayPal will charge you.

Add Fee for Non PDGA members: Thanks to NextGen’s partnership with the PDGA, non PDGA members do not have to pay the $10 temporary membership fee for their first Next Gen event. Leave this setting as “no”.

Additional Fees: If you need to add an additional charge as green fees, fundraiser donations, ace pot, CTP’s or optional sponsorship, you can collect for those by adding the fees here. Click the green “add” button and additional fee fields will appear.

If Infinite Collects is your payment method, then ignore the additional fees section.

Description: Depending on your tournament type, this field will automatically populate. You can edit this text any way you like or add a picture by clicking the “image” icon.

Schedule: The schedule works the same way as the description field. Simply enter whatever text or images you want to display here for the right side column of your tournament page.

Divisions Section

Choose Divisions: Check the check boxes to include all division types you want to have open for your tournament.

Max Players in Field: Enter a number in these columns if you want to restrict the number of players for each division type. If you don’t care, just leave this section blank and your tournament will only max out for reaching the total “Max No. of players”.

Additional Payout per Player: All NextGen eXclusive events automatically payout $10 in Infinite credit per player. If you would like your players to receive more payout, add a number here and more funds will be set aside for tournament payout. This is an optional field. If you don’t want players to receive any additional payout, simply enter a 0 here.

TD Cost: For using the Infinite tournament system you get a 20% discount on Infinite Payout, meaning that every $10 in Infinite payout you give out will only cost you $8. The TD cost is what you will actually pay for for the additional payout. For running a NextGen exclusive event your TD commission is $10 per player. You can add $10 per person to payout and still receive a commission of $2 per person to cover PDGA fees. The TD cost field will automatically populate based on what you enter in the Additional Payout per player field.

Payout % of Field: This is the percentage of each division that will receive payout. By default, this amount is set out at 40%. If you are going to be adding additional payout, you may want to increase this to 50% so that more players are awarded for shooting well.

Layout: The layout column “choose layout” button is only necessary if you are having different divisions play different layouts. If all divisions are playing the same layout, ignore this column.

Select Player Packs: Here you can choose which player packs for your event type you would like included for your tournament. If you have a sponsorship from just one brand, then only click the check box for that brands player packs. Otherwise, select all the appropriate check boxes to give your players the most options possible.

Once everything is complete, be sure to “save” your tournament. It will appear here at the bottom of the screen, and any future editing can happen by pressing the pencil icon.
